I get emotional at my friend’s weddings, and Shantels was no exception. I think it’s because I’m getting old, and the abundance of people from my graduating class getting married is a constant reminder of this. Growing up Shantel was always the one who hated all our boyfriends, who always complained because she was the one without the boyfriend, but now I know why. She was waiting for Peter to come along. I’ve known Shantel since we were little 12 year old sprouts starting Sea Cadets, we remained friends straight through high school and into our adult years, so we can say I know her pretty damn good. So take what I say with that in mind. 10 years, 10 long years.. and I have never seen that shine in her eyes before. I’ve never seen her laugh like that before, or smile like that before, like she does when Peter’s around. (I’m getting emotional now, geeze) I wish I could post every single picture of her and peter here because 99% of them she’s keeling over laughing, or smiling, with that same look on her face – a look soaked in love.
The wedding was nothing short of amazing, seeing as most of the guests were people I’ve grown up with. One of the bridesmaids has been one of my close friends since we were 5 years old! Of course, being a friends wedding we all got silly once I was off the clock – and we didn’t leave the dance floor. Peter was kind of stripped of clothing, and molested a little by many girls (myself included), and everyone had to take Shantel out during “I knew the bride..”. Our demands to the DJ was anything off Now 2, and any of the dance mix 90-xx cd’s were okay. So me, my childhood best friends and the bride boogied down to 90’s classics until the wee hours of the morning.
Love you smelly, Peter take good care of her, accept the fact you’ll never win a fight, and just love her as hard and as much as you can – she’s one of a kind
And, because we all just love this picture so much..
