Wedding mandap decoration tips

Wedding mandap possesses a great importance in Indian weddings. It is a sacred place where a pious religious ceremony of binding two people in one soul takes place. Wedding mandap is magnificently decorated according to the wedding theme. All the traditional rituals and customs like kanyadaan, tying mangalsutra, pheras and jaimala are held in the mandap. Thus all eyes are fixed on it to see how well it is decorated.

Hindu marriages are held in open ground, thus mandap is decked in between the open ground on the base of four pillars made of bamboo. This canopy or mandap is decorated in various ways and differs from region to region. Read below written points to know more about decoration. wedding planner

* If want to give wedding mandap traditional look deck it with bright colors like red and silver. But nowadays other eye-catching colors like yellow, pink, orange and green etc are also highly used for the décor of mandap.

* Flower decoration is another way to decor mandap. Both real and artificial flowers can be used. Marigold, roses and jasmine would impart a traditional look to mandap. Also drape the garlands around the pillars. event management company

* Lighting is must for enhancing the look of the mandap. Illuminate it with strings of yellow lights, LED lights, elaborate lighting fixtures, lanterns or candles.

* If you want your mandap to be adorned in a glamorous way opt for netted drapes around canopy, use silver color instead of gold and complement mandap with fresh flowers like carnations, baby roses, lilies or orchid. Also use silk drapes around pillars instead of garlands. But make sure silk drapes should complement the color scheme chosen for the mandap. event planner

* Back of mandap should be equally decked to bring out perfect show of the entire mandap. For that make a bunch of exotic flowers like roses, orchids and carnations, and hang it behind the mandap to make it look attractive.

* Flowers used for decorating back and mandap should complement each other.

* It is believed mandap should not be empty, thus place chairs there for bride and groom to sit and others. Ensure that their color goes well with the mandap decorations.

Do not leave any stone unturned in organizing a prosperous wedding mandap, as it holds utmost importance on the day of the wedding. royal wedding

warning: Ad should remain calm

Link ini tentang perkara-perkara perkahwinan yang berlaku – out of proportion! (mainly tentang hantaran)

Sekarang, Parvin harus type dalam bahasa Melayu so that Adilah tak boleh nak buli die dengan translation merepek. Oklah to be honest, i’ve reading alot in Malay because of the topic i’m ‘researching’ on thus my thoughts or words might be sugar coated with Malay here and there.

Kelakar betul apa yang dibincangkan dalam artikel tu, ingin juga nak translate-kan untuk kawan-kawan bukan melayu tapi nanti copyright pulak! (trying hard to sound malay-ish and i can type Malay but speaking, jangan harap!)

“Oh! There was this guy! We went out 1st date, like for a movie, then went to eat and he suggested to go bowling, so we ended up playing a few rounds then he sent me home…wait this is the best part… The next day he sms me to say he had a great time, LISTED HOW MUCH EVERYTHING COST HIM LAST NIGHT, and casually said I can PASS HIM HALF THE AMOUNT ANYTIME! And he ended off with ‘hope we have more dates in the future!’ I mean….Seriously!!”

Funny right! hahaha (i think this sounds lame, unfortunately you guys have to put up with my karenah *evil laugh*)

Well, hope it was enjoyable at least! Tata~

Music to your ears (and eyes)!

When I began working with music teacher, Jessica, I was so excited, especially about the color palette they decided on!  Very dramatic but extremely romantic!!!  Jessica and John wanted to have a little ‘vintage’ feel with a modern twist.  The colors were soft pink, deep pink, rich burgundy, steel grey and black!  It was so beautiful.

The couple married at St. Peter’s Catholic Church- the ceremony was so moving- the bride’s music students delighted guest as they entered and then serenaded Jessica as she walked down the aisle escorted by her brother.

Reception was at the fabulous Capital City Club!!  Pamela and her team were just perfect!!!  The food was show stopping and the view was picture perfect as always.  The couple added in that ‘modern touch’ with having an all black dance floor- it was so FABULOUS!  The colors worked perfect together – tables were dressed an assortment of romantic, soft, full roses in elegant silver vases and urns.  Other tables were topped with the beautiful silver candelabras and tons of pillar candles.  We placed votives all over Capital City Club.

The bride’s portrait was taken by Lonnie Hoke in the couple’s own historic home- it was exquisite…working with Hoke Photography was just wonderful!!!

The wedding cake was created by Vintage Bakery- the ‘lace icing pattern’ matched the bride’s gown and was dressed with a matching brooch that each bridesmaid wore….lovely!  The cake topper was the ’icing on the cake’ – they were hand-made dolls to resemble the bride and groom- they really were amazing.

And the two great finishing touches were the classic photo booth and massage chairs.  We had lines at each all night- Harriet and I even had to get in the photo booth :-)

Below are seating cards

happy days of 2009

FOUR days till we celebrate the coming of the decade! Whee! 2009 has been wonderfully amazing, I realized that holidays with the one you love are so fucking awesome, you just want more, more more! We didn’t go to much places, but the few places that we went to, we had such great fun, I can’t wait to do it for a lifetime with you.

2009:

The year my brother got married, and now his wife is pregnant, due in March! (whee! i am getting a nephew!). It’s the year when we spoilt ourselves during anniversaries and birthdays and surprises! (zoo, mooncake, truffles, and more!) It’s the year of new and revived friendships and the lost of some (ohwell). It’s when I graduated from NIE (yay 2nd graduation) and made up my mind to educate. It’s the year I started work in my new environment and totally rocked it, and I am looking forward to a new set of challenges next year (Discipline Mistress, HouseMistress and Netball IC! Whee! On top of teaching 4 levels. HAHA). It’s the year baby got a new job and it’s the year we planned out our future together seriously. It’s the year I asked my mommy and daddy if it’s okay to marry in 2012 (and they said okay) and it’s the year I participated in one of his family’s weddings. 2009 has been really loving and blissful for me, despite some downs in some days/weeks but looking at it as a whole, it’s as awesome as you can get. (for me)

It’s the year we discussed proper wedding plans (ideas!ideas!) and housing options. It’s the year we set target saving goals for both of us and it’s the year i started investing (with baby’s friend). (well it has been the year where people are talking about marriage and planning theirs in a few years’ time. stressful hor. *breathe in and out* play cool ah)

It’s the year of hot and cold (Hot in SunnyPhuket and cold in TokyoJapan). It’s the year my weight fluctuated like crazy (and my running phases). It’s the year (probably) I discovered how to put on eyeliner and the year i became (actually!) more vain about myself. It’s the year I’m thinking of wnating to buy a sports car for myself and also battling about with my practical self (my guy side). It’s been a happy year and I think Santa thinks I’ve been a really good girl last year to bless me with such happiness this year (i think so too!)

Holidaypicks this year: Penang, Ipoh, Malacca, Tokyo, Phuket, Port Dickson, Philippines, Nagano

(we didn’t even go to Batam for seafood this year. omgican’tbelieveit. Not even Bintan! (but it’s damn expensive)

Long periods of longing and loving and happyfeelings were peppered with periods of anguish, but these generally take place around the same time of each month due to PMS and the term ‘the men just don’t get it’. But of course, with each angsty moment, with each outburst and venting out frustration and then talking it through, there comes understanding, giving in and it’s when you get closer to the person more and more. (cos i am stubborn and headstrong like that)

(like seriously, if you are going to suck it in all the time, you are potraying an angelic image of yourself to your partner. later marry also how? still suck it in or all hell breaks lose? no need to scream and shout lah, just need to voice out your disagreements while you are still dating, no? so you know if you can live with the person for the rest of your life or not)

There are so many other things I feel like saying about 2009 but it will just be too long. (yes i suck at the summary section of the GP paper. always!)

Come 2010, i will be rocking the scene even more and having plenty of fun, work or play!

And Insya-Allah, life will be sweet and loving and even more amazing next year.

Resolutions will come later (though one of it is cut down on holidays but i already thinking of destinations. wtf!)

I know the year isn’t over yet for 2009, we’ll be having an amazing New Year’s Eve (though we aren’t sure what we are doing? BBQ? Camping? Bumming? Packed food? Hotel? Heheh) and I have my MGdarlings to meet tonight! Some I’ve not met since graduation! Hehe

my little (and insignificant) surprise to adrian & ailin...

my dear adrian and his wife, ailin are in bali for honeymoon now, and i decided to give them a little surprise here by “hacking” into this wordpress acount to make this post. hmm…  why do i even have to hack since i’m part of sideways too? because adrian is the sole art director / editor / dictator of this blog and our facebook account, i’m not allowed to access to them at all. i don’t even know the password and stuffs. yes, even the last post was created by him despite it was me signing off, i only provided the pics and my words to him through email.

actually no lah, haha i was just plain too lazy to post on our blog everytime, so our poor adrian gonna do it on his own whenever there’s something new. hahahaha

once again, i was “only” asked to cover for the morning session at his place because the actual day photographer, michael chan; another big name in wedding photography, was at ailin’s side. why huh? why i always being asked to play the small role? i’m wondering when would be the day when someone would post on his blog to tell the world that, “hey, today one of the top wedding photographers, liang is actually shooting for this wedding, check it out!”. yeah right, dream on boy.

ok, enough of my gripes. here’s a little glimpse of what was happening at adrian’s place, prior to the gatecrashing.

to adrian & ailin: ……………………….. huat ah!

can you spot adrian? hahaha

- liang (this time it’s really me!)

Sparkle and shimmer

This time of year, snow or no snow, just seems to have an extra bit of sparkle and shine to it.  And today, with a rare Christmas snowcover here on the coast, the whole world is sparkling in the sunshine right now.

Hope you have a sparkly backdrop to your day, no matter where it is!

Tyin' The Knot.

I love this custom knot from Miniature Rhino, because it fits in perfectly with our invite & save the date theme, which was – again – Tying The Knot. And of course, I can’t resist the nautical color theme. So I ordered it to use for our wedding shoot!

(which reminds me – I should post up our wedding invite & save the date sometime soon :) )

Anyway, here is our custom knot, propped up on the dashboard, while we waited for our photographer to reach this shoot location in the West. (Can you guess where this is, or do you recognize it?)

I cannot wait to see the shots that involved this cutie!

Kelly and Ryan's Wedding

Yep…it’s true.   Kelly and Ryan got married.  Saw it myself.

It was on one of those days that I really enjoy photographing – you know, those awesome, angry skies that are so beautiful in photographs.  Thanks to Anita Kanellis for some awesome direction, Vince Gray of Flower Stems for the beautiful floral design, and Olexa’s  for the great cakes, and Ron Marko of Vintage Auto Chauffeur .

Here are a few images:
